Three years ago I ran for a seat on the Hennepin County Board, knowing that I had lots to learn about Hennepin County but believing that I could be an effective voice for this area as well as a resource for district residents dealing with County government.
As I seek re-election to the County Board, I am proud of my accomplishments.
The County Board has made big decisions — about the county budget, about county services, about projects that will shape the future of this county — and it has made small ones. In all of those, I have tried to take the same approach: thoughtfully consider the issues, listen to other points of view and decide responsibly with a focus on the long-term. I have proactively communicated with constituents, hosting town hall meetings, preparing a monthly newsletter and proposing the County’s first-ever Citizen Academy. And I have brought the concerns and perspectives of this district to the decision-making process, whether the issue was libraries, transportation, public safety, social services, health care or the environment.
It has been my privilege to represent this district on the Hennepin County Board. Please lend me your support as I seek re-election in 2012.
